LOS ANGELES - On a recent Tuesday morning, Judge Victor E. Chavez admonished an experienced trial attorney who, while cross-examining a witness, was using a timeless grammatical no-no: the double negative.
"Sir, I don't mean to be pedantic," Chavez interrupted, "but remember back to fifth grade? You need to keep that rule."
