LOS ANGELES - The trip from the U.S. District Court on Spring Street to the Superior Court's Metropolitan Courthouse on Hill Street takes only a handful of minutes.
But for Judge Dorothy C. Kim, a former federal prosecutor who now presides over a criminal misdemeanor trial calendar at the latter location, the metaphorical distance between the two courthouses seems a bit further apart.
