LOS ANGELES - Superior Court Judge Maureen Duffy-Lewis recalls spending much of 2008 sitting in her chambers, staring out the window and wiping away tears.
In the span of a year, Duffy-Lewis lost a series of her closest relatives, including the tragic death of her niece, who had recently graduated from college.
