AVALON - It's 6:12 a.m. when Peter Mirich appears at the Long Beach ferry terminal to catch the boat to Avalon. In his baseball cap, khakis and leather jacket - he came by motorcycle - he looks more like a park ranger than Santa Catalina Island's only judge.
