OAKLAND - Several years back, Paul Herbert was litigating a commercial case in Contra Costa County involving a dispute over money after several people left an organization.
Stephen P. Brunner, a solo who had worked with Herbert before, was brought in to handle one of the defendants, and was shocked by the level of acrimony amongst the lawyers.
