SAN FRANCISCO - Fresh out of the law school then known as Boalt Hall, Richard A. Paez spurned the allure of the big firm and opted for a job as a poverty lawyer at California Rural Legal Assistance.
Paez, 66, is now a President Bill Clinton appointee to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, the only CRLA alumnus to have attained a federal appellate judgeship.
