Ballet to Bench

A former ballet dancer, Vegas showgirl and hard-charging sex crimes prosecutor, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Karla Kerlin moves next week from the Metropolitan Courthouse to the Criminal Justice Center. The Harley-riding jurist will take charge of the master calendar pre-trial court.

LOS ANGELES - There was a time when dressing for success meant head-to-toe sparkle for Karla Kerlin. She was a Las Vegas showgirl.

Nowadays, Kerlin dons the simple black robe of a Superior Court judge.
