VISTA - Following his father into law was the last thing on Earl Maas' mind when he injured his knee in a surfing accident his senior year in high school.

A catcher on the school team, he lived and breathed baseball since he was 8 years old. But the injury sidelined him that last season and dashed any Major League dreams.
