SANTA MONICA - Judge Craig D. Karlan wants to remind lawyers of one small yet important fact: He can see and hear them from the bench.
That means he notices every smirk and eye roll. And most of the time, Karlan can even hear them sigh.
"All that stuff is very apparent," he said. "You see it. For any time I did that to a judge when I was a lawyer, I apologize."
