SIMI VALLEY - Rows of strawberry fields stretch as far as the eye can see behind Judge David R. Worley's Camarillo home.

That's a comfort to Worley, who was born and raised in Kern County, a stone's throw from the Weedpatch Camp made famous by John Steinbeck in "The Grapes of Wrath."

"L.A.'s too big for me," the judge said. "Too much concrete. I've gotta see the horizon or it makes me nuts."... (continued)
