SANTA ANA - Some of the best advice Orange County Superior Court Judge William R. Froeberg ever got was to not be himself.
A lawyer friend warned Froeberg to tamp down his usual personality when he went off to be interviewed by Marvin R. Baxter, then the appointments secretary for Gov. George Deukmejian.
