COMPTON - Judge Karen Ackerson-Brazille was raised near the courthouse in Compton where she now presides over drug, felony, and misdemeanor cases. But she wasn't always on the right side of the law.

"I grew up all around here stealing, lying and cheating," Ackerson-Brazille said, "and that's why this is so comical to me to look back and say, 'Oh my God.'
