GLENDALE - As a new bench officer in the Chatsworth courthouse, Judge Margaret Oldendorf received four words of advice from then-Presiding Judge William McLaughlin: "Just don't say it."
The motto suggested to Oldendorf that she be careful with gravitas the new judicial role had lent her words, and to focus primarily on listening rather than passing judgment.
