WESTMINSTER - John S. Adams had what he called "an epiphany" following his first year at Stanford Law School in 1975.

"I took a class in a fairly new field, environmental law, and that summer I worked in the Los Angeles Basin," he recalled.

The epiphany came when he returned for a visit during the Thanksgiving holiday.
