DELANO - When people ask Robert S. Tafoya how he deals with the rigors of being a judge, he has a ready answer.

"I remember working in Calexico in the summertime when it was 120 degrees by 11 a.m.," Tafoya says. "Picking tomatoes in Calexico in July - that's hard work."

An Oxnard native, Tafoya, now a Superior Court judge in Delano, was born the fourth of 11 kids.
