SANTA ROSA - Gary Nadler believes in the power of speech.
Since his appointment by former Gov. Gray Davis to Sonoma County Superior Court in 2002, the judge has kicked off hearings and trials by giving speeches to litigants, attorneys and jurors. Nadler insisted on them for almost every custody case he presided over in family court, an assignment he held from 2005 to 2006.
