WOODLAND - Daniel Maguire had never been active in politics, but after Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger swept into office with pledges to change Sacramento, he decided to make the jump to government work. He left his bustling solo patent and civil litigation practice in 2005 to work as a deputy legal affairs secretary in the governor's office.
