Rock to Robe

Earlier in life, William R. Redmond gave tours of Alcatraz as a park ranger and later prosecuted offenders as a deputy district attorney. Today, he presides over misdemeanor trials and felony preliminary hearings as a Ventura County Superior Court Commissioner.

VENTURA - Bill Redmond has fond memories of his time at Alcatraz.

As a ranger with the National Park Service, Redmond conducted hundreds of guided tours of the island prison, home at one time to Al Capone, Machine Gun Kelly and other notorious gangsters.
