MONTEREY- Heidi K. Whilden lost her parents when she was just a toddler in the 1960s - her mother and father died when their car crashed into a tree on a rainy night in Florida. Whilden was in the backseat with her older sister.
The siblings survived, but the impact of the event sent shock waves through Whilden's life, influencing the choices she made well after getting her law degree.
