RIVERSIDE - Superior Court Judge Mac R. Fisher's path to the legal profession began in an unusual place: the baseball diamond.

An Army brat who grew up in Lompoc, Fisher was a star pitcher for the Cabrillo High School baseball team, earning an athletic scholarship to UC Riverside. No one in his family had gone to a university, he said.
