SALINAS - Sam Lavorato Jr.'s legal resume looks a bit like a family tree.

The Monterey County Superior Court judge spent much of his career working at a Salinas firm with his father, brother Chris and a law partner so close to the family that Lavorato called him uncle. Lavorato's other brother John is an attorney in Austin.
