LOS ANGELES -- A small plaque sits on Judge W. Kearse McGill's desk in his downtown chambers. His husband gave it to him when McGill was first appointed as a workers' compensation judge in 2005.
"I am still learning," the memento reads, attributing the phrase to the 16th century Renaissance painter and sculptor Michelangelo. McGill reminds himself of this aphorism with each new case that appears ... (continued)
