VAN NUYS — Judge Michael Harwin still has the chair with the bullet holes in it.

In 1988, after his marshal was injured by a gunman firing in the courtroom, Harwin went on offense, tackling the shooter, disarming and cuffing him.

Harwin’s robe was drenched with blood, but it wasn’t his own.
