Santa Barbara firm weathered bandits, earthquakes to reach 160 year anniversary

More than a century ago, Price, Postel & Parma's founder worked part-time as county sheriff, chased a group of bandits out of a canyon with the help of a posse and entertained Queen Victoria's daughter.

SANTA BARBARA - Lawyers often like to look back at their firms' histories with pride.

But there may not be another firm in California that can say its founder worked part time as county sheriff and with the help of a posse chased a group of bandits out of a canyon. The same man was later elected mayor and entertained Princess Louise, Duchess of Argyll and daughter of Queen Victoria, in 1883.
