Civil rights attorney Christian M. Contreras knows what it feels like to be without an advocate.
"I was actually homeless in Skid Row when I was about 12 years old after my mom was in a car crash, which paralyzed her from the waist down," Contreras said. "As an undocumented person, she didn't know her rights, and because she didn't know her rights, then that caused us to be homeless."
