Facts
Plaintiff Evelyn Ng, 70 years old, underwent cataract surgery in her right eye on April 2007, performed by defendant Dr. Shiu Kwok at the Chinese Hospital in San Francisco. Ng lost vision on her right eye following the surgery.
Ng sued Kwok and the Chinese Hospital for medical malpractice and lack of informed consent. The Hospital was voluntarily dismissed prior to trial.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff contended that defendants negligently diagnosed, examined, treated, and advised her of the cataract surgery. She further contended that Dr. Kwok failed to disclose all risks relating to the procedure.
Damages
Ng sought damages in the amount of $29,900 for medical bills, pain and suffering, costs of suit, and interest.
Injuries
Partial loss of vision.
Result
The jury rendered a verdict for the defense.
