Walter Lee was eating at Korean BBQ Surah Inc. in Buena Park on May 29, 2009, when a waitress attempted to pull meat off a grill. The meat flew and oil struck Lee in his right eye.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Lee filed suit against Korean BBQ Surah, alleging negligence.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Korean BBQ Surah admitted liability, but disputed the cause of Lee's alleged vision problem, contending Lee's corneal tissue healed completely.

Damages

Lee sought $20,000 for damages to identify and correct his vision, as well as $230,000 in lost earnings and damages for pain and suffering.

Injuries

Lee sustained a corneal burn, and claimed to suffer permanent blurred vision.
