Michele Richardson was driving westbound on March Lane in Stockton on June 5, 2007, when she was involved in a sideswipe collision with another vehicle, operated by Ronald Meier.

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Richardson filed suit against Meier, alleging motor vehicle negligence.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Meier conceded liability, but contended that Richardson had denied injury at the scene of the accident. Meier alleged that Richardson had pre-accident chiropractic care for substantially the same injuries and symptoms.
Damages
Richardson sought $1,574 in past medical costs for total damages of $25,000 including future medical costs and pain and suffering.
Injuries
Richardson claimed injuries to her neck and back, and underwent chiropractic treatment.

The jury found that Meier was negligent, but his negligence was not a substantial factor in causing Richardson's injuries, and awarded no damages.
