Jane Doe, age 32, was operating her moped in a southerly direction on Second Street in San Francisco and defendant, Danielle Roe, was operating her Toyota 4-Runner in a northerly direction, intending to make a left turn onto Howard Street. The defendant struck the moped while making her left turn.

Plaintiffs contended that defendant failed to see the approaching moped before making the left turn.

Injuries
The plaintiff suffered multiple fractures, internal injuries and a tear of left posterior cruciate ligament. The plaintiff suffered open fractures in the areas of the wrist and forearm of both upper extremities, a comminuted fracture of the acetabulum of her left hip, multiple fractures of the pelvis and fractures of the left femur and tibial plateau. She was left with a left lumbosacral plexopathy and scars on her extremities and abdomen. She has an impaired gait. Due to her pelvic fractures, she will probably require c-sections when having children, and a caretaker for infants, as she is unable to life/carry children. She was hospitalized for 42 days after the accident and has undergone five surgeries.
Result
The case was settled before trial for $2.5 million (policy limits).
