Facts

Andrew Wilson was an Image Production employee of Sony Computer Entertainment America, Inc. from 1998 until 2005. "Image Production" employees primarily produce, copy, or install images designed by others into video games, using commercial or in-house software computer programs. He filed a class action suit on behalf of all past and current employees claiming Sony Computer Entertainment America failed to comply with labor laws requiring it to pay overtime.

Sony Computer Entertainment America denies allegations in the lawsuit and admits no liability or wrongdoing in the settlement.

Result

Conditional settlement of $8.5 million. Also, Sony will reclassify class members with a job title of Associate Artist and Artist 1 as nonexempt employees under the wage and hour laws of California and the federal Fair Labor Standards Act.

Other Information

The court will hold a hearing in September to deterimine whether to approve the settlement.
