Facts
The plaintiffs filed a class action against Haier America Trading LLC, alleging that the company sold power-draining freezers that consumed more energy than allowed under federal standards. The plaintiffs further argued that Haier intentionally mislabeled these freezers as compliant with these standards, despite the fact that they were far less efficient and increased consumers' electric bills.
Haier denied the allegations.
Result
The parties settled for up to $2.95 million.
