PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Tapia contended that defendant discriminated against him by terminating him for his disability (depression), failed to accommodate his disability, failed to engage in an interactive process, and refused to reinstate him following his medical leave.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Defendant denied Tapia's allegations and asserted various affirmative defenses.

Result

The jury returned a verdict in Tapia's favor and awarded him $889,849 in damages plus $400,000 in punitive damages, for a total award of $1,289,849.
