On April 3, 2006, a vehicle hit plaintiff Minh Huu Le, 69, while he was walking his bicycle in the crosswalk of Main Street in Santa Ana. The driver of the vehicle, defendant Luz Elenz Cano, was exiting Highway 5 and heading north when she struck plaintiff. The plaintiff sued the defendant, alleging negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

Damages

The plaintiff sought economic damages, including medical expenses, as well as pain and suffering damages.

Injuries

The plaintiff fractured his wrist in the accident.

Result

The jury returned a verdict in favor of plaintiff and awarded him $229,087.50. The parties later settled and defendant agreed to pay plaintiff $215,000.
