Facts

Plaintiff Lisa Brown filed suit against defendants Pixelrange Inc. and Kenneth Hopkins in relation to contractual dispute.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff contended that PixelRange Inc. and its employee Kenneth Hopkins fraudulently induced her to enter into a contract to install lighting at her residence. She claimed that PixelRange sent inexperienced personnel to install the lighting and that none of the workers was a licensed contractor in California. The work was poorly performed, requiring plaintiff to incur additional costs to fix the errors.

Plaintiff asserted causes of action against defendants for fraud in the inducement of home improvement contract (California Business & Professions Code section 7160), recovery of all compensation paid to unlicensed contractor (California Business & Professions Code section 7031), breach of contract, rescission (California Civil Code section 1689), declaratory relief, and money had and received.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
PixelRange and Hopkins denied wrongdoing and asserted various affirmative defenses.

Result

The parties entered into a stipulated judgment against PixelRange. The court later amended the judgment to add DTI Inc. as a judgment debtor, resulting in a judgment in plaintiff's favor in the amount of $228,881.98.
