Grail Semiconductor Inc. filed a breach of contact lawsuit against Mitsubishi Electric & Electronics USA Inc. Grail and its co-founder, Donald Stern, filed suit against Mitsubishi Electric, alleging that it used confidential information and technology on memory chips, which Mitsubishi launched in 2004.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff alleged that Mitsubishi Electric revealed plaintiff's confidential information regarding a memory chip to an affiliate company, Mitsubishi-Japan. Plaintiff also claimed that Stern met with individuals from Mitsubishi in April 2001 and divulged technology for a memory chip, and that Mitsubishi Electric acquired the information, introduced it, and confined the market.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Defendants challenged liability and damages.

Result

The jury awarded plaintiff $124 million.
