Facts

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed a federal discrimination lawsuit aganist Fremont Toyota. The lawsuit charged that the dealership singled out four Afghan-American salesmen during a staff meeting, calling them terrorists and threatening them with violence. After the men reported the harassment, they were retaliated against by the dealership with additional verbal harassment and job scrutiny. The salesmen eventually resigned. An Afghan-American manager who spoke up for the salesmen was fired.

Result

Fremont Toyota agreed to train all managers, post a notice regarding the lawsuit and to report to the EEOC for a three-year period, and to pay $400,000 to the five former employees.
