Plaintiff was riding his bicycle when he was hit by Defendant's vehicle. Plaintiff sued Defendant, alleging that Defendant was negligent because he failed to look in both directions before proceeding.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Defendant contended that Plaintiff was liable for the accident because he rode his bicycle on the sidewalk at a high rate of speed and against the flow of traffic. Defendant further contended that Plaintiff was involved in a similar accident the prior year.
