Facts

From Sept. 12, 2000 until Oct. 26, 2006, Efren Zamora received care from various U.S. Veterans Administration facilities in California. He alleged failure to diagnose hepatitis B infection as well as liver cancer and filed suit against the United States for medical negligence.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
The plaintiff claimed that the defendant's medical staff did not inform him that he had a hepatitis B infection and failed to screen him for liver cancer.

Injuries

The plaintiff claimed liver damage, as well as deformity, physical pain and mental distress.

Result

The parties settled for $15,000, which was approved March 2, 2009.
