Leslie Turpin sued Robert Camara in connection with a motor vehicle accident that occurred on April 28, 2010 around 5:30 p.m. in Long Beach.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff alleged she was driving in the middle lane of the 405 freeway going southbound when she was rear ended by a vehicle driven by defendant. Plaintiff alleged that the impact was so strong that it lurched her vehicle forward into the vehicle in front of her. She was injured as a result and sued defendant for negligence.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
The defense disputed that plaintiff sustained any injury.

Settlement Discussions

Turpin demanded $541,751 in settlement, which Camara countered with a $15,000 offer of settlement.

Damages

Turpin requested $30,016 in medical expenses, $36,536 in lost earnings, and unspecified amount of damages for pain and suffering.

Injuries

Turpin claimed she injured her back and underwent physical therapy and received cervical injections of painkiller to address the pain. She claimed she continued to experience problems with her neck that was related to the subject incident. Plaintiff eventually underwent a cervical diskectomy and fusion.

Result

The jury ultimately rendered a verdict for the defense on causation.
