Facts

Thomas Mundy brought an action against Del Taco for civil rights violations, alleging that he visited the restaurant in Garden Grove but could not reach the soap dispenser or toilet-seat covers in the bathroom.

Contentions

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Del Taco claimed that Mundy was a professional plaintiff who did not actually encounter any of the alleged barriers. Further, Mundy conceded that he filed close to 200 lawsuits and earned over $60,000 in settlements in 2008.

Result

The jury unanimously found in favor of defendant after deliberating for less than 30 minutes.
