Facts

Hologic Inc. was the world's leading company dedicated exclusively to women's healthcare. it filed a patent infringement claim against IZI Medical Products LLC relating to IZI's manufacture and sale of a radiolucent foam cushion used during mammography.

Result

U.S. District Judge William G. Young granted Hologic's directed verdict motion on the question of obviousness as to the three claims taken to the jury. A unanimous jury thereafter found in favor of Hologic. The jury found that IZI infringed two of three of the asserted patent claims.
