Court

Plaintiff

(Stephen F. Lopez APC)

Defendant

Gregory K. Hafif

Michael G. Dawson
(Law Office of Herbert Hafif PC)

Facts

The plaintiff, an attorney, alleged that the defendant law firm reneged on an agreement to split fees equally that were earned from class action lawsuits. The defendant law firm contended that there was never a 50/50 deal and that the only agreement was that the plaintiff would be paid a reasonable fee for the work he performed, and up to 35 percent. The defendant argued that the plaintiff had been fully paid by the court in one class action suit and that in the other suit, the plaintiff had received monthly loans from the defendant which exceeded the reasonable value of any fee he earned.

Damages

According to the defendant, the plaintiff claimed fees in excess of $2 million.
