Facts
Otto Schiebold, 50 years old and an insulator, passed away from lung cancer in 2004. He was diagnosed two years prior with adenocarcinoma of the lung.
Kathleen Schiebold, decedent's wife, filed suit against Plant Insulation Co. alleging wrongful death on the basis of products liability and negligence.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff claimed that exposure to insulation products containing asbestos caused her husband's death. Such exposure occurred during the installation and removal of pipe covering, block insulation, asbestos cloth, as well as insulating muds. She further claimed that Plant Insulation was the sole distributor of PABCO insulation products, which contained asbestos and that Plant Insulation had continued use of these products until 1970s despite knowledge of related health risks. She also contended that these products were sold in boxes marked "asbestos free."
Damages
$167,025 for lost social security benefits and $288,000 for lost pension benefits. Plaintiff also sought $322,450 for lost household services and $1,747,625 for total economic damages.

Wrongful death.
Result
Parties settled during trial for almost $3 million.

Other defendants settled before trial for the total amount of $7,014,236.96.
