On Sept. 15, 2012, plaintiff Darian Williams was traveling eastbound on Imperial Highway in the second lane. When she entered the intersection of Imperial Highway and Rose Drive, defendant Ae Kyung Jo, who was traveling northbound, made a right turn and a collision occurred.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff claimed Jo made a wide right turn into Williams' lane causing the collision and Williams' car to roll over a few times.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Defendant contended that plaintiff was traveling eastbound on Imperial Highway and entered the intersection in a yellow light.

Injuries

Plaintiff claimed she suffered crush right finger wounds, right finger amputation with bone exposure, concussion, neck and back pain. Plaintiff underwent a total of nine surgeries to severed fingers including division and insetting of the thenar flap on her right hand, placement of acellular dermamatrix on right ring finger for coverage of exposed bone, closed manipulation of the middle, ring, and little digits of the right hand, excision contracture of right little finger, and exchange allograft right ring finger. Plaintiff also claimed possible autograft and possible amputation of her ring finger.

Result

The case settled for $1,250,000.
