Plaintiff Cindy Hewitt filed suit against her employer, the County of Los Angeles.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff claimed she was subjected to discrimination by being given competent performance evaluations. She was also suspended for three days, and then transferred.

Plaintiff claimed the acts were discriminatory based upon her race.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Defendant claimed that there was no evidence of discriminatory intent and that there were legitimate, non-discriminatory reasons behind each act.

Settlement Discussions

Parties attended a mandatory settlement conference, but were unsuccessful in reaching an agreement.

Result

Defendant was granted summary judgment, and was awarded costs in the amount of $1,443, and attorney fees for the full amount sought, $62,883.
