On June 26, 2009, Heather Hall was walking down an aisle at a Vons grocery store when she fell. Hall sued The Vons Companies Inc., alleging that they failed to properly maintain the aisles.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Hall claimed that she slipped on a puddle of water. She presented video surveillance footage depicting a lack of proper maintenance at the store.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Vons contested whether a puddle of water had actually existed. It also disputed whether Hall had slipped and fell at all.
Damages
Hall sought $70,000 in past medical costs and an unspecified amount for future medical costs.
Injuries
Hall sustained a small fracture of her right elbow.
Result
The parties settled for $25,000.
