Facts
On July 31, 2012, plaintiff Pedro Mandujano was driving when he was rear-ended by defendant Bryon Brooks. Mandujano sued Brooks, alleging that he was negligent in the operation of his vehicle.
Brooks admitted liability, but argued that the accident did not cause Mandujano's injuries.
Damages
Mandujano sought $212,000 in past medical costs, $50,000 in future medical costs, and an unspecified amount for pain and suffering.
Injuries
Mandujano presented to a chiropractor with complaints of lower back pain and received treatment for three months. He later underwent an MRI and was diagnosed with a lumbar disc herniation. He underwent a lumbar discectomy and claimed he still experienced lower back pain.
Result
The jury returned a defense verdict.
