Facts

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) brought a complaint against City Nissan Inc. of El Monte relating to its advertising of consumer leases of automobiles and promotion of credit sales and other extensions of closed-end credit.

Contentions

COMPLAINANT'S CONTENTIONS:
The FTC contended that the auto dealer deceptively advertised the sale, financing and leasing of their vehicles in violation of the FTC Act, the Truth in Lending Act, and the Consumer Leasing Act.

Result

Pursuant to the settlement reached between the parties, City Nissan is prohibited from misrepresenting in advertisements the cost to purchase or lease a vehicle, and is required to clearly and conspicuously disclose terms required under credit and lease laws.
