Facts

On April 30, 1996, the plaintiff, a 31-year old machinist, was working on a gear hobbing machine manufactured by the defendant, Barber-Colman, in 1944 while at his place of employment. As he attempted to remove a newly cut gear, he placed his hands on the outside of the gear, severing his fingers. The plaintiff brought this case based on negligence, strict liability, failure to warn, breach of express and implied warranties.
