In July 2005, plaintiff David Aitken was driving northbound on a street in Santa Monica. Defendant Rupinder Azrot was driving in the same lane and direction. When plaintiff stopped for a red light at an intersection, defendant rear-ended him. Plaintiff sued, alleging motor vehicle negligence. Defendant conceded liability.
